The And Game
Come together and play this mind-boggling game of pairs. This works well in the Valentine's Day car pool. It's called the And Game because it's all about words that appear together with "and" in between.
How to play:
I say, "Romeo and..." You say, "Juliet." I say, "Bread
and..." You have to come up with "butter." After five rounds,
switch roles.
Heart Hop Relay
Divide the kids into two groups. Give each team a small stuffed valentine heart. Have one child from each team place the heart between their legs and hop to the end of the room and back. They give the heart to next child in line, and this repeats until children have had their turn. The first team done is the winner
Bobbing for Apples
A traditional harvest time game. Float apples in a large wash tub filled with water. The object of this game is to grab one of the apples and remove it from the water without using your hands. You must use only your mouth. This is a very messy, very wet, and very fun game. It is even more challenging if the stems are removed from the apples.
Circle Time Heart Match Game
Make a valentine for half the number of children in the group. Cut each heart in half in a zigzag or swirly fashion, so that each cut is fairly unique and identifiable. Each child is given part of a heart and must find his/her partner by matching the valentine halves.
Flying Hearts
Glue a pink and a red heart together back to back. Put this special heart plus about three dozen plain hearts in the center of an old bed sheet. The children hold onto all sides of the sheet and gently toss the hearts up and down. At the shout of "Hearts high!" the children toss the sheet high into the air, making the hearts fly. The kid who picks up the most hearts and the one who finds the special red and pink heart are the winners.
Valentine Musical Chairs Game
With one less chair than you have players, arrange chairs in two rows, back to back. Play any popular love song. Players march around the chairs. When the music stops, everyone sits in a chair. The player who doesn't have a chair is out. Take away a chair. Keep playing until one player (the winner) is left.
